Sharing Excess respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect on sharingexcess.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this public website only — not our food-rescue platform or mobile apps, which have their own policies.

• Information you give us. When you contact us, offer a food donation, sign up for updates, volunteer, or partner with us, we collect what you share — such as your name, email address, phone number, organization, and message.
• Donations. Online donations are processed by FundraiseUp. They handle your payment details directly; we never see or store your full card number.
• Usage data. Like most websites, we collect general information about how the site is used — such as pages visited, links clicked, and browser and device type — using cookies and similar tools.

We use information to:

• Respond to your questions and requests
• Send updates you have asked to receive
• Process and acknowledge donations
• Understand how our site is used and improve it
• Keep our site secure and prevent spam and abuse

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run this site and our programs — for example, to process donations, deliver form submissions and emails, and measure site traffic — and when required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others. We may share aggregated statistics, such as general traffic trends, that do not identify you.

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. If you accept, we use PostHog to understand how people use the site and Google to measure our donation campaigns. We also use Mixpanel to count page views and clicks, so we can compare traffic with our previous website; it runs unless you decline.

If you decline, these tools stay off. We remember your choice in your browser, and you can change it at any time using the cookie preferences link below. Some of these tools honor your browser's Do Not Track setting, but declining in our banner is the most reliable way to turn analytics off.

• PostHog, Mixpanel, and Google — site analytics and campaign measurement

Some pages include maps or media served by their providers, and links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we link to.

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, we may send SMS messages about updates and important notifications. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time. We do not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and we never share your text messaging opt-in or consent with any third party.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, and we use reasonable safeguards to protect it. This site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• Cookies and analytics. Change your cookie preferences at any time.
• Emails. Unsubscribe using the link in any email we send.
• Your information. To access, update, or delete personal information you have shared with us, email contact@sharingexcess.com.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has shared information with us, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date below.
